Abstract

The relevance of the study of the peculiarities of cultural identification of pupils and students from different regions of Ukraine is due to the awareness of the need to solve the problem of adaptation and integration of internally displaced persons to different socio-cultural traditions and the local population of the regions to the living conditions changed as a result of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. Therefore, the issue of the need to take into account the ethno-cultural characteristics of the population of different regions of Ukraine in the state educational policy is becoming more relevant.

The purpose of the research is to identify regional peculiarities of cultural identification of young people that can be taken into account in the state educational policy.

Based on the results of the empirical study, the main types of cultural identification of Ukrainian youth are identified: committed, alienated, ambivalent, which have specifics in different regions. Their strengths and challenges are analysed, which are promising for further transformation in education. It has been found that the defining type of cultural identification of young people is committed, which varies in the regions – positive and committed in the central, eastern and western regions and involved and committed in the northern and southern regions. It is found that the alienated type of cultural identification of youth is represented in the regions as follows: alienated-devaluating – in the Central, Eastern and Southern regions; alienated-disregarding – in the Northern region and alienated-pro-European – in the Western region. The presence of an ambivalent type of cultural identification of young people in the central and eastern regions of Ukraine is established, while the western region is characterised by emotionally attached, the southern region – by inferiority, and the northern region – by more neutral emotionally vulnerable. The main factors that determine the regional peculiarities of pupils‘ and students’ cultural identification are highlighted: 1) connection with the Ukrainian (folk) culture; 2) appreciation – depreciation of the achievements and traditions of their own culture; 3) modality of attitude towards their people.

The practical significance. It is shown that cultural educational programmes should take into account that for young people in the central, eastern and western regions the emotional and value aspect of experiencing a connection with cultural traditions is decisive, while for young people in the northern and southern regions it is the behavioural aspect, which is realised through involvement in cultural traditions, interest and support for Ukrainian culture.
